Sergei Ossovsky was born in 1958 in Moscow. He studied at the Surikov Art Institute in the workshop of Tair Salakhov and continued his education there as a graduate assistant under Salakhov from 1985-89. In the period after glasnost Ossovsky was among the first Russian artists to exhibit in the United States with solo shows in SOHO, Memphis and Little Rock. His unique style of hyper realism lent itself to his preferred subject, the facades of old buildings in Moscow, New York City and Memphis. Today he is a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts. His father is the noted Severe Style artist Petr Ossovsky.
