Sandra Pratt was born in 1978 and raised in Chicago. She spent one semester at the Art Institute of Chicago where the emphasis on theory at the expense of technique left her unsatisfied. She then moved to Colorado and began to paint seriously. Pratt’s paintings are abstract interpretations of Nature. Her work is intuitive and spontaneous. She strives to create a sense of space and stillness in her paintings. Using a palette knife to lay down color and texture, she pays close attention to the compositional elements of each piece. Her work combines a simplicity and completeness that are immediately evident to the viewer because of their natural and un-affected manner.
